The White Russian

The other day boyfriend and I were standing in the liquor isle at the store and couldn’t decide on what we wanted to drink. We wanted something that we hadn’t made in a while. When we saw the Kahlua, it clicked:

I hadn’t drank a White Russian since college, which back then was a pretty much every morning routine, I mean come on, it’s way better than coffee ;-p.

I had forgotten about how much I love these drinks. They are seriously the perfect desert drink, especially with a batch of chocolate chip cookies right from the oven.

Here’s what you need:

Vodka, Kahlua, Half and Half

First pour 1 part Vodka, half to 1 part Kahlua (depending on how much coffee taste you enjoy), then the rest Half and Half.

Enjoy. 🙂

Haraszthy- 2009 Old Vine Lodi Zinfandel

Another wine that my neighbor brought over was this exquisite wine:

Seriously, I think this wine tops my list of reds. It tasted of sweet cherries. We didn’t enjoy this until the next evening, when Cat and Dylon brought their dogs over for a doggy play date, but boy, was I happy that this bottle was only split between the 4 of us. Hands down, the most delicious red I have ever tried!

Rancho Sisquoc- Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

While at the Party on Friday, my neighbor decided to stop by and brought some excellent wine with him.

This is one of the best Cabs I’ve ever had. It was absolutely delicious!

I’ll definitely be needing to pick up this one as well.

P.S. I apologize for the slightly messy counter around the bottle, it was towards the end of the party and I hadn’t wiped down everything yet.

Turning Leaf- Sweet Riesling and The BDAY Party

Friday evening I hosted a birthday party for my dear friend Cathryn. It was a huge success!

For appetizers I put out chips and salsa, with a veggie platter. I also made some of my awesome Jalapeno Bites!

(Photo taken from pinterest… I fail at taking photos of food :-p)

Here’s what you do:

Cut jalapeno’s into 4s. Scrape the seeds out. Fill them with Cream Cheese, wrap in bacon.

Cook this for about 45 minutes at about 350.

Seriously, delicious!!

For dinner I made two homemade pizzas.

(Photo: courtesy of Pinterest, I actually used round pizza dough, but this looked the closest)

The BBQ Chicken Pizza:

I use just store-bought ready to bake pizza dough. It’s quicker, especially in a party situation.

Make the chicken (for the party, I premade it and put it in a bag so I could just top it quickly). I dice and cook the chicken and add bbq sauce and garlic powder.

Take the pizza dough and use bbq sauce as the base sauce.

Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.

Top with chicken and diced red onion.

Bake for 15 minutes at 450.

I also made a Pepperoni and Sausage Pizza

Taking the dough I top with mariana sauce.

Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.

Top with pepperoni and sausage crumbles.

Bake 15 minutes at 45 minutes.

Huge hit!

I also was able to find an assorted desert tray with was on sale at Vons!

Very fun time. It was BYOB (or wine).

One of the wines that was brought was the Turning Leaf Sweet Riesling

It was absolutely delicious! Very sweet, and was very nice on a warm summer night like Friday. 🙂

New Amsterdam Gin

For those of you who don’t know me, my liquor of preference is Gin.

I had a girlfriend turn me onto this particular gin, New Amsterdam

Pick up some of this gin, some tonic, and some limes, and you have quite a bit of drinks for under $15.00. Who can beat that?

Cupcake Vodka

This weekend we attended a dear friend’s going away party. It was really good to see and catch up with old friends.

I also had the joy of trying Cupcake Vodka.

Though, when I drink Vodka, I like to not really taste it as much, this Vodka was really good.

With it we mixed it with Tonic Water and some Unsweetened Lime Juice.

It was delicious and a definite win!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Be Bright Pinot Grigio

Apparently this weekend was a Pinot Grigio kind of weekend. 🙂

The Be. wine’s have several different wines with different Be sayings, for example the Riesling is Be. Radiant, the Pink Moscato, Be. Flirty, ect. Obviously, I haven’t tried them all yet, but I have seen them, and my first experience was with the Pinto Grigio, Be. Bright. This is a sweet Pinot Grigio, so I enjoyed it very much. It was light, fruity, and had such wonderful flavor. Perfect for sipping on on a hot afternoon. Yes, a lot of afternoons seems to be hot now a days. Just wait till the fall when I start on my winter flavors :-p
